Front steps of the building Where's It At?: This area is where car riders are dropped off and picked up, the main entrance to the building facing Park St. What To Do: In this area you need to be vigilant of the surroundings and the traffic. Although the duty area is called front steps of the building, it is highly recommend that you come off the stairs and move throughout the students as they wait
Front steps of the auditorium Where's It At?: This duty is in front of the long set of steps facing Park St. What To Do: This station should be using the same procedures and guidelines as the previous duty. Teachers assigned to this area should watch for students crossing the street over Walker Ave. and monitor students assembled before class begins. Standing on the stairs gives you a better view of what is going on with the students, but just like the main entrance, teachers should move throughout the students Heads-Up!: students are not allowed to cross back over Walker Ave. after walking onto school grounds. It is your responsibility to stop them from doing so
Gymnasium Where's It At?: This duty takes place in the old gym (wooden floor) What To Do: Teachers supervising in this area should watch what students are doing while they are sitting waiting for class. If there is more than one teacher assigned to this area, one teacher should patrol the new gym and the locker room to make sure that there are no students in those areas Heads-Up!: This area is only open during winter months and during inclement weather
Walker Avenue side of the auditorium Where's It At?: This duty is on the short steps facing Walker Ave. What To Do: Teachers supervising in this area should make sure that, once a student leaves the campus in the afternoon, they are not allowed to come back for any reason. In the mornings, once students step onto school grounds, they are not allowed to cross the street again Heads-Up!: Be sure to meet and direct any visitors parking on Walker Ave. to Student Services or the Main Office
Hallways Where's It At?: the hallways inside school What To Do: Teachers assigned to hallways should direct students to move along in a timely manner. --In the mornings, we do not allow students in the building until after the 8:20 bell- any student in the building should have a pass or be assigned to the teacher’s room. --In the afternoons, teachers should work at moving students out of the main building to the front circle for pickup or to the gyms or athletic fields for practice
Comet Crosswalk Where's It At?: the crosswalk leading from the Main Building to Comet Corner What To Do: Teachers assigned to this duty should make sure that they are on duty at 7:55 or 3:20 (depending on duty schedule) and that they are wearing a state-required vest to identify them as a person in charge. While conducting this duty the teachers should be very vigilant of oncoming traffic and the number of students that are assembling to cross from Comet Corner to the Main Building Heads-Up!: this duty is the most important one on AHS campus. Directing students across a busy roadway in the mornings and afternoons requires constant vigilance --kids will try to dash across- make sure that you stop a car before allowing students to pass! --students are not allowed to Comet Corner until the 8:20 bell rings without a note from a teacher!
Lower student parking lot Where's It At?: the area next to the practice football field What To Do: Teachers assigned to this area should make sure that the students park and exit the vehicle to the school in a timely manner. Students should not be allowed back to their vehicles before the bell rings for any reason without a note from Student Services
Cafeteria center line Where's It At?: In the main Cafeteria, this is the double line that is roped off What To Do: Teachers who are assigned to this duty should make sure that they are in the cafeteria before the students are released for lunch- this will provide you time position yourself to make sure that students do not break line and enter the line in an orderly manner
Center stairway Where's It At?: What To Do: Teachers assigned to this area should first help with supervision in the cafeteria. Once students have cleared the line, the teacher will move to the center stairway to make sure that no students exit upstairs to the main building
Back hall/hot lunch line Where's It At?: In the cafeteria, next to the Main Office stairwell What To Do: Teachers assigned to this area should should monitor the hot lunch line. After the line clears, the assigned teacher can have a seat to monitor the back hallways- make sure that no students go down the back hallway for any reason
Outside front of the building during lunch Where's It At?: same duty location as Front steps of Building What To Do: Teachers assigned to this duty should make students pick up all trash and conduct themselves in an orderly manner during lunch. Heads-Up!: Move around during the duty and keep a lookout for people coming onto and leaving campus
Auditorium stairway Where's It At?: At the top of the stairs on the main floor- next to PAC doors What To Do: Teachers here should prevent students from entering the main floor from the cafeteria
